About LearnKits
LearnKits is a workshop of printable worksheets: generators that make new exercises every time, for ages 3 to 16, each with a step-by-step answer key for the teacher.
Why LearnKits exists
LearnKits grew out of a conviction: learning takes time, attention and effort, and few things support them as well as a pencil and a sheet of paper. In recent years screens have taken up more and more room in classrooms, and international assessments such as PISA have recorded a fall in reading and maths in many countries. LearnKits is our way of helping to turn that trend around.
We believe in good old-fashioned study. Sitting down with a worksheet, focusing on one exercise with no alerts or distractions, practising, getting it wrong, rubbing it out and trying again: that is how learning that lasts is built. Paper does not jump to something else, it keeps the trace of the effort, and it lets the teacher see how each pupil reasoned, not only whether they got it right. That is why our mascot is an eraser: making mistakes is part of learning.
We are not against technology: we use it for what takes up most of a teacher’s time, preparing varied material and marking it, so that the computer does the work and the pupil works on paper. Nor do we want to lecture anyone: teachers and families know their pupils and children better than anybody. We simply want to make it easy, and free, to put a good worksheet back on the desk. If that helps children and young people rediscover the habit and the joy of studying, LearnKits will have done its job.
What LearnKits is
LearnKits is an independent educational project developed in Spain. It offers 169 worksheet generators (we call them kits) for maths, literacy, science, social studies, English as a foreign language, technology, music, early years, learning support and teacher tools, in English, Spanish and Catalan.
Every kit is an A4 worksheet editor: choose the exercise type, the level and how many, and get a sheet ready to print or save as a PDF. You can combine exercises from several kits on one worksheet, move them, generate new ones and add a cover. It all runs in the browser, with no sign-up or download. Browse every kit in the catalogue or start a blank worksheet in the editor.
How the worksheets are made
Exercises are not copied from a list: each kit generates them from rules (those of the operation, spelling, grammar or geometry it practises), so every worksheet is new and the answer key always matches what was printed. Every answer is worked out from what the pupil sees: the numbers, words and drawings on the sheet.
Before a kit is published, an independent checking program generates it thousands of times at every level and in every language, reads the printed sheet back and recalculates every answer and every step of the answer key. If a rule could allow two right answers, the exercise is not used.
Texts, readings, word banks and sentences are written for LearnKits in each language, not translated: English pages use British spelling and conventions. The drawings are our own; maps use Natural Earth data, and real-world data (population, climate, planets) cite their source on the sheet itself.
Who it is for
For teachers preparing class, practice or assessment material, and for families supporting learning at home. Levels follow 13 school years for ages 3 to 16 (early years, primary and secondary), and each year has a ready-made workbook with a cover and contents page.
There are also PISA-style worksheets to practise the competencies the test assesses (LearnKits is not affiliated with the OECD).
A worksheet that fits every pupil
Every pupil learns in their own way: some read better with larger print, some need clearer instructions, some work best with one exercise in front of them and some go faster. That is why adapting worksheets is not a separate part of LearnKits but part of all of them: any worksheet from any kit can be adapted in the page settings. Low vision settings enlarge the print and the drawings, turn lines and text black and use highly legible typefaces such as Atkinson Hyperlegible or Andika; learning support settings make instructions easier to read, put a picture of the action before each instruction and leave one exercise per page. They apply to the pupil’s sheet, the answer key or both, and the worksheet rearranges itself so that everything still fits.
There are also worksheets designed for support: letter reversals, attention, executive function, number sense, emotions, social skills and behaviour support. We gather them by need, with ideas to start with and how to adapt any sheet, in our learning support worksheets.
They are practice and support material for the classroom and for home: not therapy, diagnosis or an assessment, and they do not replace the judgement of the specialists who work with each pupil. Nor do we keep anything about the children: worksheets are made in the browser, and what the teacher types in (names, targets) never leaves it.
How it is funded
Every generator is free and the site shows no ads. LearnKits Pro is an option for those who want to support the project: it removes the small watermark on the sheets, and school plans add the school letterhead.
You do not need an account to use LearnKits, and we never ask for pupils’ data. Our privacy policy explains it in detail.
