Teaching Guide: the Human Body in Primary Science

Learning about our own bodies is one of the first topics in primary science: body parts and the face in the first years, the skeleton and muscles next, and the body systems and organs in the upper grades. This free generator makes human body labelling worksheets with our own line drawings, made to print in black and white, with the answer key ready.

Nine diagrams

Parts of the body, the face, the skeleton, the muscles from the front and the back, the internal organs and the digestive, respiratory and urinary systems.

Three levels

The same drawing with more or fewer labels: the basic parts in Grades 1-2, more parts in Grades 3-4 and the full science vocabulary in Grades 5-6.

Write or match

Pupils write each name on its line, or write the number of each part next to its name: ideal for younger children.

Word bank

By level or always shown, in alphabetical order so pupils cannot guess from the position.

Our own drawings

Clear line illustrations without colour or shading that photocopy well and that children can colour in.

Answer key

The labels filled in blue, to mark at a glance or show on the interactive whiteboard.

Frequently Asked Questions about the Human Body Worksheets

Which grades are these worksheets for?
All of primary school. Level 1 (Grades 1-2) covers the basic parts, level 2 (Grades 3-4) adds more and level 3 (Grades 5-6) labels every part of the drawing with the science vocabulary.
Which diagrams are there?
The parts of the body, the face, the skeleton, the muscles (front and back view), the internal organs and the digestive, respiratory and urinary systems.
Can I choose how many parts pupils label?
Yes. When the wizard asks how many, choose the number of labels: if you ask for fewer than the level has, they are picked at random, and selecting the diagram on the sheet and clicking New changes the selection.
How does the word bank work?
In the wizard’s More options, under Word bank, choose whether it shows by level (on levels 1 and 2), always or never. The match-with-numbers activity always shows the word list.
Why are the organs seen from the front and the head in profile?
As in textbooks: the head in profile shows the mouth, the pharynx and the nasal cavity, and the trunk from the front shows the rest of the system.
How do I print only the answer key?
Click Print and choose “Answer key”, or “Worksheet and answer key” to print both at once. Your browser’s print dialog can also save it as a PDF.
Is any pupil data sent to a server?
No. The worksheets are made in your browser and templates are saved in your browser’s storage.
